Huracán Mitch:
Noticias de Rio Dulce. 8 de Noviembre 1998

UPDATE Sunday 8Nov98 09:40 CST

Good morning everyone!

The situation here on the Rio Dulce is improving little by
little. There are cold fronts passing by and it has been
raining here almost constantly. It rained all day yesterday
and all night last night but the rain has not been heavy
enough to cause problems. Miraculously, the river is slowly
dropping despite the rain. It is now down 4 inches from its
highest peak.

The road to Guatemala City is definitely open and the word
is that buses are starting to run again. Shipments of food
and supplies are also arriving and everything is again well
stocked in Fronteras. The market seems to have everything
and the produce is all top quality and very fresh.

Unless we get so much rain that the river rises again, I
don't expect any more problems here in the Rio Dulce area -
so, this will be the last newsletter.
