Painted Bodies

The Painted Bodies Exhibit, by Chilean photographer Roberto Edwards, comes to Guatemala, where it will end its extensive world tour, after five years of journeys to the most diverse cultural sites.

Starting August 10, in the recently renovated building of the Convent of the Compañía de Jesús, in Antigua Guatemala, spectators will be able to see a collection of eighty photographs, which portray the work of today's greatly acclaimed Chilean painters. The theme's originality stems from the fact that this extraordinary work is done on nude bodies. This esthetic conceptualization has been praised by art critics from all of the countries it has visited.

Painted Bodies is a compilation of the work of renown artists such as Nemesio Antúnez, Carmen Aldunate, Gracia Barrios, Patricia Israel, Benjamín Lira, and Francisco Smythe. This joint masterpiece has received awards in the United States, Germany, and France, and has been displayed in over twenty countries.

The spectator can appreciate the reasons of such success. The photograph exhibit is complemented with an audiovisual presentation, created with the most advanced technology. Twelve hundred slides, displayed on twenty four projectors, synchronized by means of a computerized system, along with an audio tape that simulates the mood of the photographic sessions, show the visitor how the work was done.
