How to Export to an Exporting Country

Some countries seem to be more inclined towards exporting than others. A very particular case is that of Taiwan. Even its imports are mainly used to feed the export industry, which makes Taiwan a difficult market to conquer for less industrialized countries.

The government of Taiwan created a non-profit institution known as Council for the Development of Foreign Commerce (CETRA), which seeks to promote Taiwanese products all over the world. Its greatest feat is the Center of Global Commerce of Taipei, a four building complex dedicated exclusively to promote world commerce with Taiwan. It houses trade shows, the International Commerce Market, permanent exhibits, and the area of imports.

Taiwan is a super-power in global commerce. During the first semester of this year, Taiwan exported US$25.7 million, compared to the US$322 thousand exported by Guatemala.

Even though the panorama looks discouraging, there are many products that Guatemalans could sell there. Another option, for those who wish to negotiate with the Orient, is to make joint ventures in Guatemala. Maybe the best product Guatemala can sell is itself. The Chinese market could become an endless source of income for Guatemalan tourism.

Taiwan is a market with the necessary resources to award those who are able to satisfy its needs.
