Paradigms and Future Reading for Management

The Greek term "paradigm" means example. In actual jargon, it designates the tendencies whose constant apparition has made them an example to imitate or follow.

The interpretation of the future goes hand-in-hand with those "megatrends", to use the term employed by John Naisbitt. These megatrends provide the guidelines that future readers convert into scenarios, to project plans and take decisions.

In reality, the word paradigm is a complicated term used to describe a simple reality. It refers to the continuous apparition of a style, procedure, or process that becomes a "fashion". That is, a way of doing things that has become convention. Because of this, it conforms the short term scenery in which managers work. This style, that becomes fashion, enables us to predict many things without having a crystal ball.

There is also room in this framework for innovators, for these give way to new paradigms. Do you want an alternate future for your company? Maybe we should conduct a technical exchange, to pinpoint the paradigms that apply to the Guatemalan company and the future scenarios these imply.
