The guatemalan financial market is in a growing stage. The Values and Goods Registry, which will manage the stock operations, has recently started to function. Nevertheless, most of the stock exchanges still do not think of technology as an investment, but rather as an unnecessary expenditure, due to the low volume of operations that they handle.
The National Stock Exchange does have a website where general stock information, registered brokers and options are presented. The Bank of Guatemala also has plans, on short term, to announce in the Web general information about its open market operations and economic indicators.
In the extent that the financial market develops and the brokers and general public become more technologically updated, the exchanges in Guatemala will offer the services now found in other Latinamerican countries.
