ART HISTORY WEB SITES
- World Wide Arts Resources
This site claims over 7800 registered artists and "tens of thousands" of
other art resources in such categories as Art Museums, Art Publications,
Art History, etc. It also includes dance and theater resources.
- Art History Virtual Library
This site is maintained by the History of Art Department of Birbeck College
at the University of London. It contains lists of new links, indexes and
large collections of Art History resources, university departments of Art History
an extensive list of specialized Art History web pages and a list of Art History
listservs.
- Art History: A Preliminary Handbook
This site is a good place for the beginning art history student or those
of us who need a refresher course in the finer points of studying and writing
about art. There are sections such as "Why Study Visual Culture?", "The
Elements of Art", as well as basic guidelines for writing an effective art
history paper.
- Studies in American Art:Women and Art at the Turn of the Century
This site contains the syllabus from John Davis' course at Smith College
titled "Studies in American Art: Women and Art at the Turn of the Century."
He has a wonderful bibliography containing some key sources
for anyone interested in women and art.
- University of South Carolina Department of Art History
I had to include a link to the program where I studied art history. It
is a wonderful program and it is small enough that the students really
get to know their professors.
