We all enjoy the Arts on one level or another. Some people enjoy going to museums (physically and online) in hopes of being inspired by beautiful works of art; while others would rather create art themselves at their local community art center. Even those who claim not to be a fan of the Arts, probably enjoy an occasional movie starring an actor who got her start in a non-profit community theater. As public school administrators and city governments look for ways to tighten their budgets, they are increasingly mistaking the Arts as an expendable resource. Not only are the Arts not a resource to be cut from the budget, the Arts should be treated as a key player; a valuable asset that is used to boost the economy, renew urban areas in decay, and promote the type of active citizen whose pride and self-esteem
is an asset to any community.
