Part 1 (35 points)

Your grade will depend on your pages' contents, their design, and the technical features you include. You can concentrate on any or all of these areas, and you can choose how to be graded. Here are the minimum and maximum amount of points you can choose for each area, as long as the total equals 35 points:

	Design		 5 points	20 points
	Technique	 5 points	20 points

For example, if you wish to dedicate most of your efforts to the contents and pay almost no attention to the technical features, you could opt to be graded for:

	Content		25 points
	Design		 5 points
	Technical	 5 points

And you would put much more effort in expanding the content of your pages, according to the given guidelines.

Content

Minimum

Introduction to your topic & purpose of these pages
One homepage, 2 contents pages, one simple feedback form
Texts and/or links to various resources
One scanned in or original image
Your email address (clickable)
Additional Contents (1 to 15 points)
Extensive full-text pages (preferably original work), with appropriate tables of contents
Lists of relevant Internet resources, annotated
Fulfills purpose of becoming a unique, important Web resource
Elaborate feedback form
Link to your personal page
Original art
One sound clip
Video clips
Links to download necessary helper applications

Design & Usability (5 to 20 points)

Minimum

Balanced pages, pleasant effect
Use of "alt" in tags
Navigational aids consistently placed
Additional Design Elements (1 to 20 points)
Uses a "metaphor" to organize contents
Animated gifs, frames used as integral part of page design
Colors carefully chosen for contrast and harmony
Conduct a simple usability test for your site

Technical Execution (5 to 20 points)

Minimum

Proper use of basic tags
No broken links
Form works correctly
Additional Elements (1 to 20 points)
Correct use of tables, frames, and other advanced tags
Image maps
"lowsrc" or interlaced graphics
Java or Javascript
Perl scripts

Part 2 (10 points)

Evaluation of class projects. Due: Sunday, August 18 at noon (10 points)
Visit your classmates' pages. Email me your general impressions of the pages you saw, and a brief (1 paragraph for each site) review for two of these sites (other than your own ;-)
Vote for the best 5 sites. Due: Sunday, August 18 at noon (no points)
The results will be posted on the class directory page by Monday. If there is a clear winner, he or she will receive 2 bonus points.
