Academic Life

Students and Faculty

UFM emphasizes academic excellence on the part of both students and teachers; both are expected to maintain a rigorous academic schedule. Reading assignments, independent research assignments, use of the library and class participation are expected.

Students are required to maintain a grade point average of 70 to remain enrolled. Faculty appointments are made on a per-course basis. UFM has no tenure program. Teachers' performance is evaluated by students and reviewed by the deans and the Board of Directors every semester.

All students at the licenciatura level are expected to have a sound knowledge of English and to be able to handle reading assignments and lectures in English. Many key texts used at the University are available only in English, and many important visiting professors lecture only in English.
