Universidad Francisco Marroquín Guatemala University System in Guatemala

In Guatemala, as in most of Latin America, the educational system is designed so that students concentrate in their discipline from the time of admission, including professions such as dentistry, engineering and medicine. Students are admitted to a particular school--or department--and, beginning the first year, follow a prescribed program leading to a degree.

Guatemala has five universities, four private and one public. All are located in Guatemala City, all are non-residential and coeducational. Three have branches outside Guatemala City: Universidad San Carlos, Universidad Rafael Landívar and Universidad Francisco Marroquín.
